How We Helped an International Company Overcome a Crisis: A Real Case by LawConsulted

At LawConsulted, we regularly handle complex and large-scale projects, but sometimes situations arise that become a true test for both the client and us as consultants. Several years ago, we were approached by a major international holding operating in the logistics sector. An internal corporate conflict between shareholders threatened the very existence of the business: the board of directors’ work was essentially paralyzed, and key contracts were frozen. The situation was further complicated by the fact that disagreements had long since gone beyond the business sphere and taken on a personal character.

The first step was a thorough study of the corporate structure. We analyzed the charter documents and early shareholder agreements, identifying gaps that had caused misunderstandings and disputes. At the same time, it was important to consider not only the legal aspects but also the emotional atmosphere: mistrust between the parties had reached such a level that any negotiations without a mediator ended in deadlock.

LawConsulted assumed the role of mediator and strategic advisor. We organized a series of meetings where each party could openly voice their positions. In parallel, our team prepared several scenarios for resolving the crisis, including litigation. However, our main goal was to preserve the company’s integrity and prevent destructive consequences. We presented the shareholders with a complete picture of the risks: from financial losses to reputational damage on the international stage.

After three months of intensive work, a compromise was reached. The parties signed a new shareholders’ agreement, eliminating weak points in the governance system and establishing a transparent decision-making mechanism. The company maintained its integrity, avoided litigation, and within the next quarter secured several major contracts that had previously been at risk. For employees, this meant stability; for investors – preserved trust; and for LawConsulted – confirmation that our strategy works.

This case demonstrated that today’s lawyer must be not only a legal expert but also a negotiator, mediator, and strategist. In such situations, success comes from a comprehensive approach where legal precision is combined with the ability to manage the process and find solutions that satisfy both sides. We are convinced that corporate crises can and should be resolved without destroying the business – and that is exactly what sets LawConsulted apart from many other firms.

Time has passed, but the experience of this case still serves as a guiding example for us. It confirmed one essential truth: the most important thing in our work is the ability to preserve not only the client’s assets but also their reputation – which is often more valuable than any figures in financial reports.
